Is it really free forever?

Yes. No paywall, no usage caps, no plan tiers, no credit card. The platform is funded by donations to a shared Premium Pool — when the pool has credit, your requests can route to higher-quality models. When it doesn't, fast open-source models on Groq handle the work, also for free. Either way, the answer ships.

What languages does StudyMate support?

Phase 1 ships native answers in English, Amharic (አማርኛ), and Afaan Oromoo. The chat tutor and notes generator both write in your material's language — they don't translate from English. Arabic, Hausa, Swahili, and French are coming next.

Can I upload a whole textbook?

Yes — up to 200 MB per material (text-based PDFs, DOCX, PPTX, plain text, or pasted text). Large textbooks are split into volumes and processed in parallel. The anonymous trial caps at 5 MB and 5,000 words.

Where does my data go?

Your uploaded material is stored in our database, scoped to your account, and used only to generate notes, flashcards, and chat responses for you. We don't train on it, don't share it, and you can delete a material (and all its derivatives) at any time. The anonymous trial writes nothing to disk — text in, notes out, gone.
